The late Bishop Simon White (deceased Sept. 18, 2010) was involved in ministry
for over (30) years. He spent these years in pastoral ministry, preaching, teaching, counseling and offering spiritual
growth seminars. He drew from his years of experience in pastoral work to reach people from all walks of life.
He attended the Manhattan Bible Institue where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Theology.
He later attended the Hughee's Theological Seminary where he obtained his Master's Degree in Theology.
He earned his Doctor of Divinity at the Universal Theological Institute (UTI) in 1996 and a PhD. in Christian Education from
Faith Theological Seminary in 1998.
He established a number of churches including
Joy Fellowship Christian Assemblies over which he was until the time of his death Senior Pastor, along with three
affiliate churches - Upper Room United Christian Assemblies, Inc, Mt. Vernon, New York; The Living Word Church
of God in Newburgh, New York.
Joy Fellowship was birthed out of a passion for the expansion of ministry on April 5, 1998 with a congregation
of twenty (20) members including his family. Rev. Pamela White (also deceased) played an integral part in the establishment
of the same.
Known for his tremendous energy, vision and devotion, Bishop White was not only a dynamic
speaker, but also a leader who shaped the entire ministry with his focus on the Gospel. His ministerial commitment afforded
him a platform throughout the continental United States, the Caribbean and Ghana, West Africa along with his wife, Minister
Zelda White (also deceased Sept. 18. 2010). Together, they are survived by their eight (8) children.
Bishop White was a devout student of the Word of God, who spent quality time daily in the presence
of the Lord and often declared that this was the fountain from which he drew his strength. His goal in ministry
was to draw as many souls to Christ as well as in the establishment of churches.
Bishop
White established a School of Ministry - Joy Fellowship School of the Bible.
The
Office of Bishop was conferred upon him on Saturday, November 25, 2006. May his soul rest in peace.
